CFTC Calls For Interagency Council To Coordinate Derivatives Industry

REGULATIONS

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a study that says no major changes in the current regulation of over-the-counter derivatives are necessary, but does recommend the creation of an interagency council to produce a greater degree of coordination among federal financial agencies.

The proposals were released last week in Washington by the CFTC in its Congressionally mandated 'Study of Swaps and Off-Exchange Derivatives Trading' and have been welcomed by senior industry
