Electronic options broking to rise

According to data from UK firm ClientKnowledge, 61% of the 30 banks surveyed globally said they would increase the amount of options they broker over electronic platforms this year. Of those respondents, 17% expect to up their electronic broking use for options by 50% or more.

Although that projection is based on very low take-up of automated broking of options so far -- just 5.6% according to the ClientKnowledge research -- the anticipated uptake is an important indication of banks’ increased
