The expectation, fuelled by the talent-hungry e-commerce and algorithmic trading sectors, will be buoyed by dissatisfaction with 2006 bonus levels (FX Week, January 8).

One headhunter commented: "There will be a disproportionately large amount of people dissatisfied with their bonuses this year, mainly as a result of inflated expectations. What remains to be seen is whether these people take a long-term view, or look for other opportunities."

He added, however, that other banks need to be hiring
