Gerald Corrigan, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, was chosen to head the Committee on Banking Supervision. The committee, based at the Bank for International Settlements, consists of senior banking officials from leading industrial countries, and sets policy for regulating the international banking industry. Corrigan succeeds Huib Muller, an executive director of the Dutch central bank, who died last month.
