Thai Parliament Makes Moves To Open Up Financial Futures Trading

ASIA NEWS

BANGKOK--Legislation to allow financial futures trading is to go before Thailand’s parliament this summer.

This will open the way to the launch of a range of new contracts from next year, according to Prasarn Trairatvorakul, secretary-general of Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The move was proposed two years ago, but the draft legislation has been stuck with the government’s legal advisers since then and only now is ready to go before parliament, he says.
