In a move that has left some of its traders with a bad taste in their mouth and questions as to how secure their own jobs are, French-based Societe Generale (Soc Gen) sent Joseph Occhiogrosso, its top Deutsche mark trader in New York, packing two weeks ago.

Lou Rappaport, Soc Gen’s foreign exchange manager, says "he had differences with management and myself on how to trade," and added, "we certainly would have liked more production from him." But, according to a number of sources at the bank
