Bank Of Nova Scotia Hit By Wave Of Defections Toronto Foreign Exchange Desk Feels Pinch

A flurry of resignations has reduced Bank of Nova Scotia's Toronto foreign currency trading staff by nearly 50 percent in the past six weeks. Three replacements -- two of them on the options desk -- have been hired in the past week and a half, but the average experience level on the desk has been substantially lowered, sources familiar with the bank say. Other positions continue to go unfilled. The bank's Toronto FX operation employs nearly a dozen traders, including its options desk.
