Renminbi options to debut on Hong Kong Exchange

HKEx expands range of currency products following doubling of futures contracts traded in 2016

Building on its renminbi futures suite, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) is poised to expand its currency offering by rolling out offshore renminbi currency options in the first quarter of 2017.

Interest in renminbi futures contracts intensified in 2016, as the number of participants offering them to clients increased to 103 and trading in USD/CNH on HKEx doubled to just over half a million contracts, making the exchange the premier trading venue for these contracts around the globe. HKEx
