BIS appoints Ellis as new secretary general

Monica Ellis, deputy secretary general at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), will succeed Peter Dittus as secretary general upon his retirement. He has held the post since 2005.

Ellis' appointment takes effect on January 1, 2017. As part of her new role, she will head the general secretariat, one of the bank's three main departments. Ellis will also contribute to the general management of BIS and be responsible for providing corporate services within it.
