Erroneous Swissie price on EBS sparks anger among traders

Volatility arrows

Senior foreign exchange traders have reacted in anger to the entry of an incorrect price in EUR/CHF on Icap's EBS trading platform on January 18, which sparked a sudden but brief fall in the Swiss franc's value against the euro.

The incident resulted from a price entered in the platform's training environment that somehow found its way onto the live market but had no credit attached to it. The price was live on EBS for just over six minutes and it is understood roughly 400 trades were completed
