Since the People's Bank of China (PBOC) depegged the Chinese yuan from the US dollar in June 2010, there has been an increasing international focus on renminbi and a number of moves aimed at slowly liberalising the currency. The relaxed controls, which enable the yuan to be traded and settled in Hong Kong, led electronic brokers Thomson Reuters and Icap to launch yuan trading on their platforms in September 2010.
