CLS to double input capacity by year-end

As part of Member Release 6 (MR6), the industry utility will go live with an additional five pipes to increase input capacity levels to 280,000 transactions an hour. This is up from 140,000 transactions an hour supported by the incumbent pipe, according to officials.

The move is a longer-term solution to capacity strains exposed on May 6 when the combination of the US equity market crash, UK election and European sovereign debt crisis led to a surge in foreign exchange trading instructions
