Smaller banks shut out by new regulations

According to FX Week’s sister online news service Risk.net, at a Chatham House conference speakers warned of the unexpected side-effects of tighter financial regulation.

Large banks and non-bank financial institutions will emerge the winners after post-crisis tightening of financial regulation, with smaller banks set to suffer, they said.

The conference was held under condition of anonymity. One speaker pointed out that non-bank financial institutions would profit from less competition in markets
