Westpac tops tables by backing euro

Lauren Rosborough, senior currency strategist at Westpac in London, said that at October-end the EUR/USD still had not fallen below 1.4555, despite the US dollar gaining from its safe-haven status during the time. "This solidified our belief that any small sell-off in the EUR/USD would subsequently make another try for 1.50 on November 30 from 1.48 on October 30."

Westpac's medium-term outlook is for the EUR/USD to reach the 1.53–1.54 level, with a maximum peak of 1.60.
