City workers optimistic over bonuses

LONDON - UK banks are paying bonuses again, with 80% of staff in London's financial services sector expecting a similar or improved bonus package for 2009.

Research from London-based recruitment consultant Morgan McKinley found only 7% of City workers are at firms that have elected not to pay bonuses this year. The remaining batch not expecting an end-of-year payout are affected by factors such as insufficient length of service or redundancy, rather than no-bonus policies.
