CME volume up 30% in third quarter

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange has recorded a 30% increase in volumes traded in the third quarter of this year, compared with the corresponding period in 2004.

Average volumes for the quarter reached 4.2 million contracts per day, while total volumes were over 267 million contracts.

The average daily volume on the CME Globex electronic trading platform was 2.9 million contracts, up 45% from the third quarter of 2004. During the quarter, CME Globex volumes
