Forex trading volume soars in 2005

FXJSC posted traditional UK foreign exchange average daily turnover at $789 billion in October, 31% higher than in October 2004. The North American market saw a similar increase with a figure of $440 billion, up 28%.

Foreign exchange forwards saw particularly strong activity in the UK, with a 65% increase in volumes to a $66 billion daily average for October 2005 from $40 billion for the previous month, according to FXJSC figures. Forward activity in the US was also strongly up, seeing a 49%
