Q4 forex gains at US banks

State Street reported a substantial 48% leap in FX trading revenue in Q4 over Q3, to $111 million. Mark Snyder, global head of FX at State Street Global Markets, said the strong results stemmed from a significant increase in FX sales trading volumes among the fund community, such as hedge funds, absolute return funds and international equity investment managers.

He added that State Street Global Markets FX expects to continue rapidly growing its research products in 2005, with a particular focus
