Hedge funds lose their shine

“People thought that by joining a hedge fund they were bettering themselves,” he said. “Now they have seen how they [hedge funds] can fail and how they do not guarantee the income they once thought was available.”

Shani Shamah, at executive search firm Watmough Mallett, concurred that traders are set to return to the City. “There is a feeling from some quarters that demand for traders from hedge funds has turned a corner and that the market is likely to see a flow of people returning to banks,”
