BNP Paribas eyes bullish sterling

Ian Stannard, senior currency strategist for the French bank in London, said the bank has held a bullish view on sterling for more than a year, and anticipated the break above the 2.00 level. This was in contrast to market consensus forecasts, which were far less positive.

Looking ahead, the bank expects sterling to sustain and even extend its current strength over the next couple of months. This is as UK rate expectations remain at elevated levels in an environment of re-accelerating house
