US dollar expected to bottom out in second half

Just over 60% of 183 respondents believed the US dollar had already bottomed out or would do so in the first half of this year, while others believed it would take place in the second half of 2008 or beyond.

Speaking at the event, Thomas Stolper, senior economist at Goldman Sachs, said the case for a stronger dollar was mounting. The euro is "clearly overvalued", while the dollar is reaching the end of a very long downward trend, he said.
