Eco launch likely to be delayed

A single currency uniting five nations in west Africa is unlikely to meet its targeted launch date of July 1 this year. Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea and Sierra Leone were expected to launch the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) in July, which would involve the adoption of a common currency – the eco – through the second monetary union in west Africa.
