Platforms see record trading in volatile markets

Trading volumes in foreign exchange products on CME's electronic trading platform, Globex, reached 1,188,631 contracts with a notional value of $160 billion. The previous volume record of 1,126,852 with a notional value of $134 billion was set on August 16 last year (FX Week, August 20, 2007).

The overall FX notional value of $163 billion was also a record, surpassing the notional value record of $158 billion set on December 8, 2006, the exchange said.

Meanwhile, interdealer broker Icap recorded
