CME forex volumes rose 29% in January

Electronic FX volume averaged 450,000 contracts a day, up 35% compared with January 2006.

The exchange said it made $34.75 million in transaction fees from FX products in the fourth quarter of 2006, from average daily volumes of 508,000 contracts. This is up from $29.44 million in transaction fees from FX products for the same period in 2005, when average daily volumes totalled 375,000 contracts. Total transaction fees generated from FX products for 2006 were $130.16 million.
