Ex-Deutsche exec to head Goldman's Asian sales

Sahni will relocate to Hong Kong to take on the new role early next year, reporting to Carsten Kengeter, head of fixed income, currencies and commodities for Asia.

Sahni joins from Deutsche Bank in London, where he was understood to have worked as European head of rates sales. Deutsche Bank declined to comment on its plans to replace Sahni, who had worked at the German bank since April 2006.

Peadar Ward, who relocated to Goldman's Hong Kong office from Tokyo when the bank reportedly moved its Asia ex-Japan FX business there in August, is said to remain as head of Asian FX sales. He will report to Sahni locally and to Peter Tomozawa, New York-based global head of FX sales.

Goldman Sachs declined to comment on the appointment.
