Société Générale Stops Exchange-Based FX Options Market-Making Activities in U.S.

Société Générale has ceased market-making in currency options on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, confirms global FX manager Douglas Plant, who is based in Paris. The move follows a similar action several months ago, when SocGen exited the Philadelphia Stock Exchange.

"We've decided that we want to concentrate more on the upstairs," says Plant. "And our presence on the floor was no longer indispensable." Although SocGen has ceased its FX options market-making on the U.S. exchanges
