In the recently released 1996 Australian Financial Markets Report, compiled by the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA), total annual foreign exchange turnover reported to the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) for the year ended June 30, 1996 showed a 9 per cent improvement in transactions against the Australian dollar, while turnover against other currencies declined by 7 per cent.
