Euro performance disappoints markets

EURO COMMENTARY

FRANKFURT -- In the wake of some of the worst few weeks in US history, the euro's failure to make significant gains against the dollar has left FX analysts scratching their heads.

Under normal circumstances, the attacks on New York and Washington, the ensuing economic uncertainty and fears of bioterrorism attacks should have given the market good reason to sell the dollar, and buy euros. However, some would argue that 'normal circumstances' are an alien concept to Europe's single currency.
