Scandinavian Banks Post Mixed Bag Of Foreign Exchange Gains For 1995

The major Scandinavian banks are reporting mixed results in foreign exchange-related trading income for 1995, mainly because of difficult market conditions and a lack of customer business, say bank officials.

Postipankki, the Finnish state-owned commercial bank, reports FM85 million in net income from foreign exchange dealing for 1995, a 22 per cent decrease from 1994's FM108 million. Jaakko Kirjas, assistant general manager of foreign exchange, responsible for Postipankki's treasury sales, says
