Currency Funds Bolstered By December Gains But Gulf War, Soviet Coup Limits 1991 Upside

Currency funds, bolstered by spectacular returns in December, ended 1991 in the black on average, according to Greenwich-based W.G. Farrell & Co.'s FX Index. Though three of the 23 firms surveyed still hadn't turned in last month's data, based on the results already in, the Farrell FX Index rose 13.5 percent in December and about 22 percent for the year.
