LONDON -- Paul Fisher became head of foreign exchange at the Bank of England in March, following former FX chief Clifford Smout’s move to become finance director.

Fisher, previously bank governor Edward George’s private secretary, also heads the bank’s FX joint standing committee. An economist by training, he has worked at the bank for about a decade, a bank spokesperson said.

The personnel change will not entail any shift in the BoE’s foreign exchange strategy, the spokesperson
