Garban-Intercapital Embarks On Japanese Derivatives Venture With Tokyo Tanshi

TOKYO--Garban-Intercapital is pushing into the Japanese derivatives broking market in a joint venture with broker Tokyo Tanshi.

The alliance gives Garban-Icap a foothold in the Japanese market and immediate marketshare in the broking of yen products.

But the deal also means Ueda-Garban, the broker's existing business in Tokyo, will close.

Two new companies will be formed from the joint venture--TIU Derivatives from Garban-Icap's stake in Totan Derivatives and GT Securities as Garban-Icap teams up
