After nearly 45 years in the foreign exchange markets, Ivan Roome is retiring March 31. Roome began his career in Canada at the Imperial Bank in 1947. In 1961, that bank merged with the Canadian Bank of Commerce to form Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Roome was chief dealer there from 1962 to 1976. He then moved to the Canadian Bankers Association, where he managed the FX brokerage until 1986, when the operation was terminated by the Canadian banks. Roome spent the remainder of his career as
