FX Week Poll Shows European FX Traders Firming On EMU Prospects

An increasing majority of European FX traders, bank treasurers and chief dealers believe European Monetary Union (EMU) will occur, while more than 50 per cent of those responding to an FX Week annual survey say they have a strategy for the proposed single European currency and 40 per cent claim to have estimated the costs of EMU to their businesses.

The survey shows that in the past 12 months, many more European banks have faced up to the prospect of EMU. In last year's survey, only 43 per cent
