Cantor closes European offices

LONDON -- Inter-dealer broker Cantor Fitzgerald and its sister company eSpeed have closed their Frankfurt and Paris offices, as the firms seek to cut costs following the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Twenty staff from the Paris office and 28 in Frankfurt have been offered the option of relocating to London in "commensurate positions" the spokesperson said, and some eSpeed marketing staff may remain in those centres. Trading for the French and German markets is now conducted out of London.
