Following last week’s article examining the increased likelihood of the sterling joining the euro, Pete Luxton and Stuart Edwards from Standard & Poor’s MMS look at the exchange rate anomalies to be overcome before the UK’s entry into the eurozone

The fact that sterling remains caught in a tug-of-war between a strong US dollar and weak euro remains the single biggest obstacle to European Monetary Union (Emu) membership, and explains why the UK government is dragging its heels over the issue
