Citibank To Start FX Trading In Israel

TEL AVIV--Citibank has hired Tal Vardi to head up a new forex dealing room in Tel Aviv.

The office will be running in third quarter, 2000 says Bob Annibale, regional treasurer for central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Citi. Annibale is based in London.

Vardi, who was formerly a senior treasury official at Bank Hapoalim in Tel Aviv, will be joined by other forex staff when the division starts trading.

The move to start forex trading in Israel is part of the bank's efforts to open
