UK Bonuses Outstrip Expectations On the Back Of Strong Year In FX

LONDON--Bonuses in the City largely outstripped market expectations, with average payouts between 50 and 100 per cent of base salary, according to industry sources. The figures were up significantly on last year's bonus payments and reflect strong 1997 foreign exchange revenues across the board, say these sources.
