Merita Considers Merger A Success Despite Initial Fall In Forex Gains

In its first year as a combined entity, Merita Bank of Finland experienced an increase in overall treasury income, although the bank reports a decline in net gains from FX trading for 1995.

Maarit Näkyvä, first vice president responsible for derivatives markets and treasury sales, says the performance of foreign exchange in 1995 was down from 1994, but "altogether given the circumstances, the performance was at a satisfactory level."
