Displaced New York bankers and brokers get back to work

NEW YORK -- Rival firms’ conference rooms, clients’ offices and even hotel bedrooms were among the unusual locations New York traders and brokers were working in last week, as firms displaced by the devastation in New York returned to work.

Inter-dealer broker Icap, which had the majority of its New York operation in the north tower -- and its disaster recovery site in the south tower -- was one of the firms left homeless by the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11.
