BLG Applies For Branch Status In Shanghai To Operate FX Desk

Bayerische Landesbank Girozentrale (BLG) in Shanghai is currently applying to Chinese authorities to be upgraded from a representative office to a full branch--complete with a treasury and forex desk, says Stephen Muir the bank's China representative.
"We have applied for a licence in Shanghai to be a full branch, but we do not know yet how long it will take. Some banks wait for a year, while others [wait] five to six years," says Muir.
