The Chicago Mercantile Exchange announced that it has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for approval to trade futures and options on the South African rand. The proposed rand contracts would be sized at ZAR500,000--valued at approximately $107,000 at current levels--and quoted in terms of US dollars per South African rand. The minimum increment (tick) of $.0000025 would be equal to $12.50. The CME plans to trade futures contracts expiring in the March quarterly cycle, with
