Russia And Belarus To Adopt Common Currency

MOSCOW -- Russia and Belarus will today (November 10) agree to adopt the Russian rouble as their common currency on January 1, 2005, when the Belarus rouble will become obsolete.

They will adopt a different currency, as yet unspecified, as their common currency from 2008.

The implementation of a common currency is part of a wider aim of greater political and economic integration between Russia and Belarus, which was ratified in a treaty signed on
