Swiss Franc Liquidity Problems Cited In Lackluster First Half By Big Swiss Banks

Currency trading operations during the first half of 1992 at Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS), Credit Suisse and Swiss Bank Corp. (SBC) didn't extend the spectacular gains seen over the previous year. Overall, trading income was down from the previous period at UBS and SBC, while Credit Suisse managed a 10.8 percent increase. None of the big three Swiss banks released earnings numbers for foreign exchange and precious metals trading operations.
