ECB expected to maintain status quo

DUBLIN -- The European Central Bank (ECB) is not expected to cut interest rates at this Thursday’s meeting, but analysts refused to rule out rate cuts later this year.

"With higher inflation and weaker economic growth in the eurozone, most people think a rate cut [on Thursday] is unlikely but possible, with probability less than 50% but more than 25%," said Kit Juckes, chief currency strategist at RBS Financial Markets in London. Juckes expects a rate cut shortly before August 2, when the ECB
