M&A drought to continue

LONDON -- US-targeted mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity slumped again in the first half of 2002, and with the emergence of the latest accounting scandals in the US it is unlikely to recover before the end of the year, said analysts and traders surveyed by FX Week.

Reduced cross-border M&A activity has already hit recruitment prospects for corporate FX sales dealers (FX Week, July 1). And the 54% year-on-year drop in US-targeted deal value for H1 2002, identified by capital markets research
