Bumper Foreign Exchange Revenues Push HSBC Ahead In UK FX League

LONDON -- HSBC last week bucked the trend for flat FX earnings among UK banks, reporting healthy gains in its annual results.

In a release last week, HSBC attributed a 21% rise in FX trading profits to higher volumes from customer-driven business in Europe and increased corporate business in Hong Kong.

"In 2000 there was good all round performance from foreign exchange, money market and fixed income activities, primarily customer-driven business through the HSBC Group's corporate client
