Although officials at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) decline to comment, sources close to Salomon Brothers say that the SEC has come up empty handed in its attempt to uncover links between its foreign exchange trades and its manipulation of U.S. Treasury auctions. SEC's Breeden said he planned to investigate the possible link after receiving an anonymous tip.
