EBS Daily Volume Jumps Past 1,000 After Sharp Christmas Trading Slump

Average daily volume for the Electronic Broking Service jumped to 1,169 transactions per day for the week of January 10 to 14 after a sharp drop over the Christmas period (see table).

EBS insiders say volume on the automated foreign exchange matching service continued to grow last week, averaging over 1,200 deals per day, which means it is gaining on chief rival Reuters Dealing 2000-2. Sources at Reuters put volume on D2000-2, which has twice as many subscribers as EBS, at about 2,000 deals per
