CSFP Distributes "Generic Risk" Alert To Derivatives Counterparties

Credit Suisse Financial Products (CSFP) has moved to head off legal problems with derivative counterparties by circulating a "generic risk disclosure statement" that warns counterparties of the types of risks they should look out for in derivatives transactions.

It also clarifies CSFP's relationship with its counterparties, putting them on notice that it does not act as a financial adviser or agent unless specifically contracted to do so.

Officials claim that the company is the first major
